Tom Wopat wishes to express his deepest regrets to friends, family, and his many loyal fans concerning recent unfortunate events. As a result of this incident, Tom was forced by court order to leave a production of “42nd Street” in Waltham, Massachusetts that was due to open the next day. He is truly disappointed not to be on the stage with his fellow performers and wishes them success in this and all future endeavors.
Mr. Wopat urges everyone to keep in mind that these are allegations; he’s alleged to have improperly touched an adult female performer during rehearsal in the presence of the entire cast and directing staff. He firmly denies any wrongdoing, and after thorough investigation by his defense team and a full airing of the facts, Tom has faith that the truth will be revealed and his good name will be restored.
In the meantime, Mr. Wopat will be taking personal time to address his ongoing struggle with substance abuse. While death and illness in the family, combined with the intensity of his recent schedule, certainly contributed to his misstep, Tom definitely understands that sobriety is the sole course for a successful future and will take immediate steps to achieve it.
As most of you know, music is my first true love, and I’ll keep making records as long as you all will keep listening to them. So I’m glad to tell you that I’ve got a brand-new collection of songs in the works right now, and I really think you’re going to like the new direction. The album will be called WOPAT, and the music will be recorded with a singer-songwriter vibe with maybe even a dash of country thrown in. I’ll be singing a handful of songs I wrote myself as well as some new unexpected covers.
Today we are launching a PledgeMusic preorder campaign for the album. Click HERE to check it out and see all the options to get the music plus lots of other cool stuff like a one-on-one phone call, autographed photos and posters, grabbing a beer with me in NYC, and a lot more. Hi everyone –
As you may have noticed, I’ve been a bit quiet since the unfortunate allegations were brought against me last year. I’m relieved to tell you now though that in the interest of forgoing a long and costly trial that would have cleared me of the charges of indecent assault and battery, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has come to accept my account of the events of a year ago – that nothing of an indecent nature was suggested, acted upon, or insinuated.
The plea bargain you may have read about was the way to close this case, and all parties are relieved that this matter has been resolved. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and fans for your patience and support over the past year. I’d also like you to know that two separate recording projects will be released in the coming months.
