Hi all - we have a big update on all things Tom. He was recently
offered a really great role in a Broadway play with other high-profile
actors, and we will have many more details to announce about that
soon! Unfortunately though, the role comes with a full time commitment
from March through the end of August. This means that the upcoming
shows in Wisconsin and Palm Springs have been indefinitely postponed
for the time being. Performing live with his band is Tom's main joy
and priority, so it was an incredibly hard decision for him to accept
this role to the detriment of the upcoming shows. We are hoping to
reschedule them, but in the meantime details are below on how to
receive your refund. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this
may have caused.
3/23 - Palm Springs - call the box office at 760-325-4490
4/5 - Hartford, WI - call the box office at 262-670-0560 x.3
4/6 - Middleton, WI - call the box office at 608-886-3103

We are excited to announce the new album from Tom Wopat - full press release below!
TOM WOPATÕS ÒIÕVE GOT YOUR NUMBERÓ Released 2.12.13
Star of Stage, Screen and TV Swings Into Big Band / Mad Men Era
With New Recording of Great American Songbook Classics and Contemporary Songs of Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor and More
(New York, NY Ð Dec. 3, 2012)
Listen to "The Good Life" - the first song released from the album below!
2013 promises to be a banner year for Tom Wopat. From the Feb. 12 release of his eighth recording IÕve Got Your Number, to his role in Quentin TarrantinoÕs highly anticipated film Django Unchained, (released 2012 Christmas) and the release of the ABC ÐTV family musical movie Lovestruck, in which he stars with Jane Seymour. While one canÕt help recall his starring role in the Ô80Õs hit television series The Dukes of Hazzard, it is Tom Wopat, jazz vocalist and the Tony nominated star of Broadway thatÕs been garnering high critical acclaim for the last two decades.
With IÕve Got Your Number, TomÕs musical expedition has traveled into even more colorful territory. Backed by a thirty-piece orchestra, he fulfills his desire to focus on what he describes as the Òorchestra/big band hybrid of the Ô60s and Ô70s.Ó ÒLike the Bobby Darin stuff,Ó he says. ÒFrank Sinatra did big band then, too., everybody did. And we really wanted to go for that -- in the standards as well as the contemporary tunes. WeÕve evoked the spirit of the New York supper club era and the cool vibe of the Mad Men days. The recording swings hard and thereÕs a lot of really fine music.Ó
And, a lot of really fine singing, too! Listen to the way he romps through the different rhythms of ÒIÕve Got Your NumberÓ and ÒThe Good LifeÓ Ð typical of his easygoing interaction with the grooves of his orchestra/big band backing. And, listen as well to the way he transforms the singer/songwriter tunes Ð James TaylorÕs ÒThe Secret OÕ Life,Ó Paul SimonÕs ÒThe Afterlife,Ó Judy CollinsÕ ÒSince You Asked,Ó Bruce SpringsteenÕs ÒMeeting Across the RiverÓ -- into jazz-tinged renditions. And, to the sense of jazz authenticity that informs both TomÕs singing and his interaction with the lush big band arrangements.
ThereÕs a large handful of uniquely appealing qualities all over the fourteen utterly captivating tracks. Tom applies his far-ranging interpretive skills and warm engaging baritone to discovering new, intriguing musical twists in such Great American Songbook classics as ÒThe Folks Who Live On The Hill,Ó ÒCall Me,Ó ÒBorn To Be Blue,Ó ÒI WonÕt DanceÓ and, of course the title track. At first glance, that could be viewed as a surprisingly diverse program of material. But his versatility has been there throughout his career and on full display in a career reaching from his television work of the Ô70s and Ô80s to high visibility Broadway roles in 1999Õs Annie Get Your Gun and 2008Õs A Catered Affair and more (he received Tony Award nominations for both), plus his previous musical releases, spanning standards (In the Still of the Night and Dissertation on the State of Bliss) into the jazz oriented sounds and rhythms that had always fascinated him (Consider it Swung).
With the release of IÕve Got Your Number, Wopat truly feels he has found his stride. ÒPerforming these songs the way we do on this recording is the most creative thing I do,Ó Tom concludes. ÒItÕs extremely satisfying and fulfilling. And as long as it feels that way, IÕm going to keep right on doing it.Ó

"Summer Dress" is now available to download for free by joining the mailing list! This song was written by Tom Wopat, and can be found on his new album CONSIDER IT SWUNG. As Tom explains "A few years ago I was filming a movie in Thailand, and the production put me up in a gorgeous hotel overlooking the sea. During my free time, I used to sit and look at at the ocean, and the view was just exquisite. The local folks there use to get around on what were called "longboards"- about 20 foot boats with a car engine strapped to them, and they maneuvered with a long prop that extended into the ocean. Sitting there and seeing this completely different way of life in such an outrageously beautiful setting became the basis for writing "Summer Dress."
Tom Wopat will be headlining the Summer Broadway Festival this Monday 7/11 at Town Hall in NYC! The first show will be featuring "Broadway Winners: The Award-Winning Music of Broadway!" - as the festival creator Scott Siegel explains "We're doing something a little bit different with 'The Award-Winning Music of Broadway!' and it dovetails with the second show," Siegel says. "For the first time, I'm bringing a small cadre of previous 'Broadway's Rising Stars,' some of whom came right out of performing arts schools, and they're professionals whose careers are burgeoning. I wanted to feature some of them in this show because they've earned the right to be on the same stage with Tom Wopat."

The L.A. Times, Culture Monster says, “…Wopat demonstrates precisely what Sondheim means when he says that “Epiphany” from “Sweeney Todd,” with its abrupt shifts in mood, allows you to witness “a man’s mind crack.”
The Wall Street Journal says, “Any show in which Ms. Cook sings “Loving You,” “Take Me to the World” and “Send in the Clowns” is by definition worth seeing, and some of the other performances, especially Mr. Wopat’s “Epiphany” and Leslie Kritzer’s “Now You Know,” are powerfully moving.”
